As the seminar is over, we have been lucky enough to get a reflection paper on the seminar from José da Costa Pereira Soares, one of the participants at the seminar.
Reflection on Student Peace Prize Seminar
Once I heard that there would be a seminar organized by Norway Student Peace Prize (SPP) and Peace Center-UNTL, I immediately said yes. Because, what came up in my mind at the time, was that I wanted to get to know more about Student Peace Prize and Peace Center, practice my English Language and be connected with new people from different places.
Overall, I enjoyed the seminar very much. All the themes we had were very interesting, especially the theme “Sustainability and Climate Crisis”, because this is what Timor-Leste and the world is facing now. Mr. Adão Barbosa’s lecture was about climate change and sustainable agriculture; he tried to tell us the causes and the effects of climate change in the world and specifically in Timor-Leste. There are some solutions regarding to climate change such as rainwater collection, drip irrigation, water conservation, drainage, terracing, etc. Based on the solutions above, we all, the students and farmers of Timor-Leste, need to act on all these solutions in order to make a better change.
The seminar is working very well and the facilitators are very helpful. However, the number of participants has decreased since day one, as participation is not permanent. This is because there’s no rules that can regulate the attendance. At the same time, there are always new participants, that can be a little hard to connect with.
There were a lot of games during the seminar that make me feel happy and energetic. The workshop questions make me think and analyze, and I like to do group discussions because we can easily share many brilliant opinions.
