Peace Prize Laureate establishes fund

The winner of Student Peace Prize 2009, Rabab Amidane, has announced that the Prize money in its entirety has been given to a newly established fund for the benefit of Sahrawi youth.

The fund will be administered through cooperation between Amidane herself and the Student Peace Prize organization.

-We hope that during the coming months and years, this fund will grow big, and help to provide meaning and assistance to the lives of struggling Sahrawi youth, Amidane said.

It has not yet been decided in exactly which way that the Fund money will be finally used. Amidane and the Student Peace Prize will work more on formulating projects in the coming months, hopefully for launch in 2010.

Any additional contribution to the Fund “small or big” will be highly appreciated.

The Fund is registered at a Norwegian bank account under the name of the Students Peace Prize.
